Symptom: I don't appear to be getting the latest version of my site.
Resolution: Clearing your Web browser cache forces the browser to load the latest versions of Web pages and programs you visit.
All web sites are likely to have many files, eg images that need to be downloaded for you to see the page. Your browser can ‘cache’ these files (temporarily store them on your computer), so that it doesn’t have to download them every time the page is loaded. This speeds up the time taken to see a web page you have previously gone to.
However, sometimes the page changes, and you don’t see the latest version straight away. This may cause you to have problems.
If you are having problems that may be affected by caching, then try the following (taken from https://java.com/en/download/help/webcache.xml):
Chrome
- Click the Customize icon on browser tool bar
- Select Settings, then Show advanced settings
- Under Privacy, select Clear browsing data
- In the dialog that appears, select the checkboxes for the types of information that you want to remove. Use the menu at the top to select the amount of data that you want to delete. Select beginning of time to delete everything.
- Click Clear browsing data
Firefox
- Click Tools from the Firefox menubar
- Click Options
- Under the Advanced options, click the Network tab
- Clear cache under Cached Web Content
Internet Explorer
Deleting web cache in Internet Explorer (IE) varies based on your IE and Windows version. The options to remove cached web pages are found under Tools (Internet Options or Safety) then Browsing History in IE.
